ironguides athletes followed up a searing August with more top results and first-time finishes, continuing to tear up the race courses in September:

  • Congratulations to Rafal Medak, who in his second Ironman of the year blazed to a 10:33 new Personal Best time - over no less than the arduous Ironman UK course! Rafal's professional teammate, teamTBB's Stephen Bayliss was the only male to break nine hours, indicating how tough the UK course is and that all 10:33's are not made equal!
  • Congratulations to Kristian Manietta, first overall at the Grand Columbia Half Ironman, nudging out none other than Tom Evans for the PRO win!
  • Congratulations to Christoph C, who finished his first half Ironman in Cologne, Germany en route to Ironman Frankfurt 2009.

ironguides Corporate Health Services: Central Alberta seminars on The Role of Healthy Living

In late September ironguides Head Coach Marc Becker and ironguides Sports Medicine Adivsor and ITU Triathlon World Cup medical provider Dr. Ryan Iverach, Chiropractor crossed oceans and mountains to hit the road for a series of Corporate Health Seminars in Red Deer, Alberta.

Over the course of two days, Marc and Dr. Ryan delivered talks to employees at three successful and growing Albera businesses, as well as a sold-out presentation to more than 500 people at Red Deer College. Each talk focused on the basic components of living healthy and how to ceate a simple, organized structure in life to put in place the foundations for healthy:

  • Sleep Patterns
  • Nutrition Habits
  • Activity Levels
  • Stress Management Skills

What seems obvious to us as athletes sometimes is not so apparent to the general public. If you're not careful, failure to attend to any one of the above can lead to a vicious circle that can interfere with living a healthy lifestyle.

With only a little time and applying general principles of success, audience members were taught to turn bad habits around and construct a virtuous circle in which each component of living healthily contributed to achieving the others.

Says Marc: "As a former professional athlete, I lived the meaning of the words "healthy living" for many years. What I learned was that as athletes, we lived in a kind of vacuum in which all the variables were highly controlled in order to maximize physical performance. A lifestyle dedicated to athletic performance provides instant feedback on how sleep, nutition, levels of physical activity and stress coping skills affect or mental, physical and emotional well-being.

"Many of the syndromes gripping modern society including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and depression are really only symptoms of the same disorder - a disjointed, poorly informed and unhealthy combination of poor habits affecting our sleep patterns, diet, activity levels and stress management abilities.

The ironguides The Role of Healthy Living Corporate Health seminar translates these twenty years of direct experience into accessible, practical insights to understand the need for guidelines to implement the first steps in creating a balanced, healthy lifestyle for individuals from all backgrounds."

ironguides provides Corporate Health Seminars, assessments and programs to businesses and organizations of all sizes. For information on the ironguides The Role of Healthy Living or other Corporate Health Seminars from ironguides, please send an email to info@ironguides.net
