The
secret life of Pro Triathlon... Sometimes
it all catches up: 30cm of snow, -11C and a hard training phase
give Paul Tichelaar of the Canadian National Team (Paul's coached
by Joel Filliol, Team Canada Head Coach) a dose of cabin fever.
Paul visits the liquor store and settles down to tell it like
it is in this very honest training blog. [more]
Train
like there's no tomorrow... "There's safety
in numbers" is a familiar refrain. Unfortunately in triathlon
training, training "by the numbers" can often lead to
staleness, plateaus and, over time, slower performances. If you're
in such a rut it may be time to try something new -- to train
like there's no tomorrow! [more]
Grade
your coach... Coaching's
not about being perfect but about being accountable and making
the right decisions for your athletes. A wise colleague once gave
me this simple gradient for measuring your coach's ability.[more]

Strong
Start to the 2008 Season
"Success is measured by the hurdles you overcome."
ironguides athletes are off to
a strong start in the 2008 season, but speed isn't everything.
Our clients faced long work hours, severe travel schedules, or
moving house during their preparations for their respective season
openers:
Ironman:
Ryan McGuigan knocks 17 minutes off his Best Time and
places 28th overall at Ironman Arizona - one week after moving
to sunny Arizona himself!
Olympic:
Neal Dunn, fresh off our Method Training Camp, wins
the St. Kitts & Nevis national championship during a brief
respite from his six-flights-per-week work schedule.
Sprint:
Rafal Medak moves up 7 places from last year and places
6th overall out of 600 at the Seven Oaks Sprint, south England's
triathlon season opener. Not bad for someone who works 60-hour
weeks!
