    Additional info:

The youngest Professional Triathlete at the 2007 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Vinnie was a recreational athlete until his age group win at his first Ironman Brazil in the 2004. That’s when he decided to race pro and see how fast he could get.

The answer: 8h50min for the Ironman distance! With multiple top ten Ironman podiums, Vinnie made himself one of the best and most consistent long course athletes in South America.

Relocated to Bangkok, Thailand after serving time with professional Team TBB, Vinnie has an Ironman Personal Best of of 8h50min at age 23 and multiple podiums as a professional athlete. Vinnie believes that diabetes has developed in him a deep intuitive understanding of the requirements of the human body during endurance sports.

Vinnie knows that diabetics need special attention for every activity they undertake. The type/amount of food and even mood can have big impact in blood glucose management. That happened to be a powerful weapon in Long Distance triathlons, when racers really need to be in synchrony with their bodies to properly know when to push, rest, eat, drink.

  • Shem Leong

    Shem Leong

Shem has been hooked on triathlon since the day he topped his age-group at his first ever Olympic Distance triathlon. Since that fateful day, he has been on an insatiable quest for speed. The question “How to go faster?” is always on his mind.

Along the way, he has inspired many to take up the sport, started an amateur triathlon club, conducted run programmes and met many wonderful people. He regards his top-10 and podium finishes as extra blessings.

His time as a medical student and his Health Science Degree have given him a solid understanding of the Human Body- from neuromuscular physiology to the complex, chemical processes that fuel it. Shem is always curious about how all the body systems work together to accomplish seemingly impossible feats at seemingly impossible speeds. The Method’s holistic approach to triathlon training is something that resonates within him.

Becoming an Iironguides coach was a logical step for him to share his passion and love of the sport with others. As his training as a new ironguides coach commences, he firmly believes that balancing both the Art and the Science of Triathlon will enable him to help other age-groupers realise their full potential. If he is able to continue setting PBs at the Ironman and 70.3 distances, then that is a bonus!

    Alun Woodward

Full time pro triathlete and coach since graduating from Loughborough University in 2000 with a degree is sport and exercise science coupled with mathematics! Passion for coaching began when coaching the University Triathlon swim squad and has been growing ever since.

Trained and raced as part of the GB world class potential squad from 2000 through 2004 before moving away from ITU style racing to focus on long course racing and follow dream of racing in Hawaii!!

Though some top 10 results in 70.3s performance was suffering with a training schedule of long ironman training. Through research in 2007-8 I discovered the hormone approach to training through Marksdailyapple.com website and through the ironguides triathlon secrets e-book. Through changing diet and some aspects of training performances started to pick up, at this point I contacted Ironguides and started working with coach Vinnie leading to instant improvements!! 2008 saw best performances over the longer distances with a 5th place at Austria 70.3 and 22nd at the World champs in Florida highlighting the year.

Learning the Ironguides approach to training over the last 6 months I am excited to be offering this successful method of coaching to my clients from this point forward!!
