     Title: A Life-changing Race
We've mentioned before that we love getting fan mail...here's a kind letter from Florida cardiologist Dr. Lyndon Box, an ironguides Premium client since the autumn of 2008. Lyndon's attended ironguides camps in San Diego and in Portugal, and Ironman Austria in July 2009 was his first Ironman since switching to The Method.

Andorra, July 10 2009

As I am waiting near an internet cafe for the Tour to come up the mountain, I wanted to comment on my IM Austria experience for you to post on the ironguides site.

My experience with preparing for IM Austria changed my Ironman life, and my life altogether.  This was my 12th IM and prior to this, each IM had been a progression into what can be best be described as the dark side of Ironman.  The insanity of stress, fatigue, fights at home, erratic training scheduled, etc. etc.  My wife is understanding, and an IM athlete herself, but my growing obsession and frustration with the sport had begun to heavily affect our marriage to the point that we were seeking counseling.  We had even discussed not having children if I continued doing Ironman because the combination of my career as an interventional cardiologist and the way I approached Ironman made our home no place for children!

Fast forward to IM training with ironguides.  All of the insanity was magically gone!  The crazy mood swings, the fights, the stress, it almost seemed like I was getting ready for a local sprint race.  As an example, in the past, my libido would dissappear for about two months before a race.  Since I was training as much as 25 hours a week, I just assumed it was the cost of doing business.

Much to my surprise not so this time!  Even the trip to Austria was an amazing change.  My wife commented several times that the stress and misery of packing and travel were 10 times less than the previous IMs she has experienced with me.  No fights, no tension, ¨just another trip.¨ In her words, ¨The cost of Marc as your coach is worth twice what your paying him.  No therapist, psychiatrist or marriage counselor could have produced this kind of change."

Usually after a race, she didnt even want to hear the word Ironman for a month.  Now, she is even looking forward to coming with me to watch me race Ironman Canada.  We are already looking forward to racing together again soon.  And yes, we do plan to have children.

Thanks for a good time, but more importantly, I can honestly thank Marc, and the Method, for giving me back the good side of Ironman.  My experience at IM Austria was everything that made me love the sport to begin with.  I look forward to many races and going even faster.

I cant thank Coach Marc and ironguides enough.
