PBs in San Diego and the Mountain of Health
While most triathlete eyes were squarely focused on the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii this weekend, ironguides athletes shone in races held elsewhere too.

In San Diego, California, ironguides athlete Marisa Rastetter won her age group - again - and was fourth overall female in the San Diego Triathlon Classic. Marisa set a PB to boot as did the other three ironguides athletes competing here.
Greg Sexton had an awesome performance which earned him fourth place in his age group. Jerry Busheff put his speed to work and also scored a solid fourth spot in his age group. Mike Sofen who is getting back in shape used this race as training, posting very solid swim and bike splits.
In the Deep South, ironguides athletes were treated to a very foggy and cool morning for a 15k running race atop Monte Sano - Spanish for Mountain of Health - this past Saturday.
In this aptly named Monte Sano 15k Jodi Bump posted a convincing age group win, topping the F35-39 division with a blistering 1:16:52. This is yet another podium spot for Jodi, a former competitive body builder who is showing us that she has power and endurance.
Donald Hellen used this 15k as a nice training day in preparation for the Marine Corps Marathon at the end of the month. His swift 1:06:44 shows that he has recovered from setting a PR at Ironman Louisville - and is ready to take on Jodi at the Marine Corps Marathon.
John (Diesel) Zingarelli used this race as prep for Ironman Florida next month. John is proof that consistent training produces consistent results with a solid 1:19:54.
Michael Stephenson ran to a 1:20:23 for a personal best. Michael is making dramatic gains every week by training with The Method. He is already a force to be reckoned with on the bike and Saturday's race shows that he will be able to back it up with a solid run.
In Malaysia CK Low put in a good fight to PB despite crippling cramps in the second half of the run at the Putrajaya Ironman 70.3. The Big Gear Sessions are already paying dividends helping CK, a new ironguides athlete, ride stronger on the bike. He has been working diligently at this program in spite of his time offshore sailing as a Navy Officer. We are working to get his nutrition dialed for his first Ironman, Langkawi 2010.
In the Gold Coast Half Ironman in Australia, Dileen Desilva had a great race - even with his new carbon rear-bottle mount breaking off and losing his main nutrition and spare tires. After stopping to try and fix it, Dileen had to leave it and continue. Overall, he had a solid race and pushed through the difficulties to finish in 5:07.
