A slew of ironguides athletes competed at Ironman Brazil on the weekend.

Leonardo Moreira won the M40-44 division and was the third overall age grouper with a 19-minute PB. Coming off a win in 2009 with a time of 9hr 22 then, Leonardo finished in 9hr 03 this time around. Back in 2009, he was 40 years old. Now, at 42, he's much faster, thanks to a long term training plan that has addressed his weaknesses in those past two years.

Gustavo Moniz, a two-time Kona veteran, went 9hr 22 to finish 6th in the M40-44 age group and once again secured his Kona slot. It was a 28-minute PB from his 2009 performance on this course.

Marcelo Penna also earned his Kona slot. He finished in 9hr 36, a 9-minute PB compared to his 2010 race. It will be Marcelo's first time in Hawaii.

Cristiano Morini decided to do the race four weeks out from the event. Due to a very stressful period at work, he did maintaince training only
for almost a year before this race and managed to finish in 10hr 45, less than 30 minutes from his PB.

Paulo Cezar, M25-29, did his first Ironman in 12hr 17. His training had been extra challenging because of his regular travels between Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.

Guilherme Freire, M25-29, earned a 15-minute PB and finished in 13hr 05.

Cristian Duarte, M30-34, completed his debut Ironman in 12hr 03 with a solid bike.

Fred Ludolf, M35-39, smashed the 10-hour barrier again, crossing the line in 9hr 53.

Renato Abreu, M35-39, did his first Ironman in 11hr 07, showing he has great potential to go to Kona in the future.

Wladimir Azevedo, M35-39, finished his first Ironman in 13hr 06, fighting anemia caused by an intolerance to gluten.

Thor Quildere, M35-39, did his debut Ironman too, coming home in 14hr 58 and learning to control his diabetes.

Marcelo Vervloet, M40-44, recovered well after a fall at the start of the bike leg to finish in 12hr 27.

Vagner Bessa, M45-49, absolutely smashed his previous best time, finishing in 10hr 49 for a 50-minute PB.

Lucas Boson, M50-54, did a solid 11hr 10 which earned him 19th place in his age group.

A week earlier at the Thai National Championships stage 1, at Laem Mae Phim beach, ironguides athletes did well, too.

Julin Oapirat went 2hr 21 for a 4th place in the M40-44 division.

Helder Francisco did his second Olympic distance triathlon in 2hr 21, which was an 8-minute PB and secured him 5th place in the M30-39 age group.

Last but certainly not least, Khun Mun was the champion in the M50-59 division with 2hr 34.
