ironguides athletes competed in 70.3 races in the Phillippines and Brazil. Some went offroad at XTERRA while others tested their metal at an ultrarun. In Thailand, many ironguides competed at the Hua Hin Triathlon where our own Kathrin Puff starred as the Overall Female Champion, taking the women's title in 2hr 35 by beating the Thai National Champion.

In Brazil, ironguides athletes raced up a storm at the Ironman 70.3 in Penha.
Luiz Topan topped the M45-49 age group in a blistering 4hr 14. Luiz did the race without taper as a hard training day for Ironman Hawaii. The strategy for the day was a hard swim and bike, followed by a moderate run which would prevent him from an extended recovery and subsequent missed training sessions for Kona.
Ricardo Azeredo M30-34 crossed the line in a swift 4hr 49, an excellent result in his first 70.3.
Cristian Duarte M30-34 finished in 5hr 18, with a very strong bike split and 27 minutes faster than his time last year. His new PB.
Wladimir Azevedo M35-39 came home in 5hr 59. Recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, Wladimir stuck to the run-walk technique and completed the race.
Rodrigo Colares M35- 39 finished in 5hr 55. Even with a busy routine including everything from work trips to two young children, Rodrigo got a PB.
Renato Abreu M35-39 crossed the line in 5hr 10. Also with an Achilles tendon injury, we focused on swim and bike workouts and got a good result.
Vagner Bessa M45-49 did 5hr 04. With a calf injury, we chose Deep Water Running sessions and the result was great. Vagner improved his time by 18 minutes compared with last year's, including shaving 3:50 off his run split.
At XTerra Mangaratiba (1.5km/25km/9km), Rui Dieguez earned Top 8 in the M40-44 division. His 3hr 15 marked an excellent improvement of 13 minutes in his swim from last year.
At the XTerra Long Night Run Mangaratiba (50km), Luiz Guilherme Teixeira finished Top 20 overall in 5hr 34 for this ultrarun.
At Step 2 State Short Triathlon, ironguides Coach Rodrigo Tosta earned Top 4 in the M30-34 division with a 1hr 12 finish.
In Thailand, many ironguides athletes competed in the Hua Hin Triathlon.
Kathrin Puff starred as the Overall Female Champion, taking the women's title in 2hr 35. Kathrin had a stellar day, beating the Thai National Champion. The professional winemaker has now established herself as the strongest female triathlete in Thailand.
Stephen Eid took 2nd Overall with a 2hr 16. Stephen is on his way to become one of the strongest age-group triathletes in Thailand. His background as a swimmer usually gives him a nice lead in the water, but now his bike is becoming strong enough to hold the lead for almost the entire course. It won't be too long until Stephen is winning races wire to wire.
Julin Oapirat earned third in the M40-44 division, with a 2hr 28. Julin has been on the podium in his age group for almost every race he has done this year.
YanYong finished his first triathlon race. When he first came to the swimming squad in Bangkok, he couldn't swim longer than 25 metres without stopping for a break. His next challenge is Phuket Triathlon
Pete Pratinan opted for the duathlon (5km/40km/10km) for his first race after joining ironguides Bangkok. He finished in 3hr 09. It was a good trial and learning experience for the big challeng coming up at the Phuket Triathlon
In the Philippines, the Ironman 70.3 Camsur weekend was a blast. Triathlon in the Philippines is definitely growing, and growing fast. An estimated total of 1200 triathletes, including relay teams, raced over the weekend at the Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC).
All the hard training had paid off, not to mention training in the rain, as it poured big time during the bike leg on race day.
The majority of the ironguides athletes at this event were first-timers. Those racing again set a personal record—Karl Forthich shaved an hour off last year's result.
So did Roman Floesser who crossed the line in a PB of 5hr 13. As the race manager of Asia's most prestigious race, the Phuket Triathlon, Roman manages a highly stressful position and stills finds the time and energy to do his long distance triathlon training in crowded Bangkok. As if the circumstances were not hard enough, his daughter Annelisa was born one month before ace day. Congrats Roman, you are the inspiration for many.
We also entered juniors at the Ironkids race. Louie overtook 97 kids in this event. He also took 4th place at the OSIM Singapore triathlon.
