Deluxe "Tour de France" Cycling Tour

This is ironguides' deluxe cycling trip. Held every year since 2004, our "Etape du Tour and then some..." has been popular with amateur cyclists from the UK, Canada and the US since. The concept is simple: We take a week to ride our own "mini" Tour de France and culminate the week with a race on a stage of the Tour de France.
As in 2007, the 2008 trip will wind its way through the south of France and culminate with our participation in the epic Etape du Tour cyclosportif with 8500 cyclists on a stage of the Tour de France! This year we'll finish with the epic ascent up to Hautacam, site of Lance Armstrong's legendary double ascent during training in the April rains.
Our riders come from all walks of life and are generally "weekend warrior" athletes looking for a great time with a like-minded group of people. The trip serves as an ideal training focus for the early spring and summer cycling season, and puts you in the saddle of your own "mini" Tour de France while the real thing is taking place just around the corner!

Travel
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements to the start of our trip in Perpignan, and for your return trip the day after race day. We can assist you with transfers to nearby train stations if required and practical in context of the needs of the entire group.
About your accommodations
We stay in three, four, and five-star hotels, restored ancient abbeys, chateaus, converted mills and simple B&B's. The whole point of the trip is to relax in well-run, beautiful settings at the end of each day, and to enjoy a bountiful menu of excellent food and wine. And to ride a fair bit in between!
