The recently launched Triathlon Club Membership by ironguides Bangkok was designed based on 5 years of “on deck” coaching dozens of triathletes in BKK and understanding the needs and profile of the average local triathlete.

TO WHOM?

Athletes who enjoy training regularly, in a friendly group environment, while still following a training plan for their own level of ability that is result proven, and tailored to the region’s most traditional events. All that without the high cost of a personalized training plan. The end result is a programme for beginners and intermediate athletes, that will mix in coaching, learning, socializing and performance.

I have been an active sportsperson most of my life and took up the sport of triathlon four years ago. When I decided to participate in my first longer distance race, I knew I needed advice as to how to structure my training and provide me with an extra level of motivation — ironguides fitted the bill perfectly. Having met my future ironguides coach at a couple of races, I knew he had the right temperament to suit me. He provided a fantastic service and over the course of seven months, I was able to improve my swimming significantly and my run became more efficient and quicker. I had no injuries, lost weight and improved in strength, stamina and mental toughness.Although the elements played a major part on race day, my coach enabled me to achieve my goals!

Training fundamentals


Order and Structure

Method training plans are set up in a very specific order, using a structure that permits higher quality training without compromising recovery. In a Method plan, all sessions are set up so that each complements the other: By following the order of training as indicated in your plan, you enhance the efficacy of the previous and following training sessions because you optimize recovery and mitigate less desired effects .

Simple Training Intensity Levels

The Method doesn’t rely on one particular tool or piece of equipment to guide your training levels. Instead, athletes are encouraged to use simple, intuitive intensity guidelines.The Method does not discourage the use of heart rate monitors or power meters – whatever context best conveys the desired training level to you is the context that will help you best achieve your goals.


The Five Systems

Strength, Speed, Neuromuscular, Lactate Tolerance & Endurance. The Method views the body as a highly complex organism of Five Systems that constantly interact to determine the effectiveness of your training. By controlling these interactions and taking into account the hormonal effects of each type of training you do, The Method ensures the highest training efficiency and rapid, optimal recovery.

Repetition

The Method relies on a high level of repetition to help you train more than just your aerobic conditioning. By repeating certain training sets over a number of weeks, athletes learn to improve motor skills, train concentration skills, develop intuitive understanding, better anticipate training, track performance, accurately gauge fatigue, build consistency.
