One year ago, we were running a race simulation weekend in South Hua Hin as an alternate for the cancelled Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT) 2021. As i now see the results of LPT 2022, i see that most athletes who took part at our own race, did very well in 2022. These are the athletes that never took a long break and just stuck to the day in day out training for a year. Ironman and Ironman 70.3 Malaysia and Philippines was the same, we had 3 athletes qualifying for the world championships.
The professional winner of LPT, Charlie Quin, has joined our group run 1x 10 years ago, he is the son of an old member, back then he was already racing at a high level in the junior category, 10 years later he is now a world class triathlete
The message here, is that triathlon performance is a very long term process, either as an beginner amateur or high performance pro, while the final 3 months into the races are important, long term development takes years of work.
